Indeed Ed. There really are only two seasons in Canada. Too soft to skate and too hard to swim.
BTW, the parka is just the outer layer on top over a sweater, a combat shirt or flannel shirt, and long sleeve cotton underwear, scarf, tuque or full face balaclava, arctic mitts (with a fur snot-wiper pad on the back) and anti-contact cotton gardening gloves.
I doubt the city authorities would approve of even broken-down war veterans leaving a crop of arctic turnips ....
