Default New Driver Tip

Hi Gilles

Hope you find a good brass shift data plate to complete the kit of your C15A.

When my son was learning drive the CMPs only one our trucks had a shift data plate, so I photographed it, printed it out full size and laminated it in plastic as a stop gap measure and screwed that in place.

One other driver training aid I would suggest is to mark the shift points on the glass of the Speedometer, real help in preventing over revving or lugging the engine. Obviously the transmission also shifts easier at the correct speed. (No that is not the original CMP speedometer but rather a M Series replacement in the HUP, the calibration is almost dead on)

Believe that some CMPs came with speedos that had the shift points already painted on the speedo faces.

Cheers and good luck to the new driver -Phil
