The straps are not all doubled over. Some are just a standard strap with the brass end riveted on.
Isn't this internet amazing in that we can do this (move info so quickly) from opposite sides of the world.
Are you saying that there is a peice of wood between the box, and the bulkhead?
I didnt know about the hole, and wondered if you'd made a mistake, when I saw your photos.
I think there used to be a 4 second, and a 7 second fuze for grenades. Would they have "fuzed" them in the carrier? I would think not. No idea really.
