....from memory of original Ford factory pictures ...it seems that the rolling frame with front cab was done first and a total "beetle" back unit was installed later...... Ford pictures show the bare frame cab up to the rear of the cab floor section including the battery box already in place located centrally on the floor.... pic was available on MLU on previous threads.....

I beleive that pictures of the cab/rolling frame were also available seen parked in large number in Ford factory assembly areas
