Hi
I had the good fortune at a show last year to meet a chap who served with waht he described a 'Squibs' in the RAF.
His job in 44 was to drive dingo out to the front line with another assalt engineer to identify locations for advanced airfields that could be made ready in short order as soon as the front line had moved on.
These would be then utilised by typhoon and tempest aircraft operatring the 'cab rank' air support system.
Sadly he was very informative but was one of those chaps who did not want his name recorded. He did however tell me that he had given a photo collection to the Royal Engineers Museum at Chatham and in have yet to chase up this lead..
