I had these made locally. The measurements were provided from the relevent
Australian WWII Military beurocracy. They don't insert from the side, but top. Make sure you do your recesses REAL deep, so you don't foul the sliding of the plate. You probably already know that. The smaller plate you see in first photo is a more modern Australian one from a Land Rover, that I sent to the steel shop, so they knew how what I was wanting.
