I surfed onto a Dutch website
www.fubarmilitaria.nl last week. He has a number of very striking photos and stories of the North Sea coastal provinces of Holland in 1944-45. One set is of an arms collection point run by 49th in an area quite close to combat between the Canadian Army and the German 6th Fallschirmjager Division. Even in surrender, those were some tough-looking opponents. Of miitaria interest, a lot of the Germans were carrying K98 rifles, but many were also carrying Italian Carcanos.
