hi Tony,
That is a British built Paterson Water Purification Set Type 6, you can see the hoses in it. They were on the standard British Army low platform 2 ton trailer normally built by Sentinel Waggon Co.
This piece of equipment dates back to the 1950's although no idea when it entered Australian service.
