Richard, I did a search to find out when they were first used. By chance I found the Ebay listing (#281146794066) It is the exact same photo as Kevin's listing. It states "1952" Not exactly U.C. NOS, in my opinion.
My main concern is that a new guy getting into carriers, might be tricked into buying, thinking it is period correct. (and yes it will fit the hole)
If it was my listing, I would have made it clear.
That's how I see it.
