The problem that I have run into is that on occasion the person assembling the slave cable would put the rubber inside out, and it would make it look like the polarity was the wrong way. As a result, the operator (usually a sadsack) would work the cable into the receptacle and short it out. The old 2 pin slave cables were generally idiot proof, but the designer did not account for the level of some people.
I do have a few spares out here, but with the price of welding cable these days, I think they are worth more dead than alive.
