It was a long shot, but I had to ask.
One thing to consider regarding that heavy vertical strip of carrier armour in front of the driver is it's usefulness to the average civvie carrier owner. There is very little about it overall that has not been drilled or milled. It usually disappears from the carrier to make for better visibility and easier access. I know of at least two carriers found here in Manitoba over the years where the new owner backtracked to the chap it was bought from and the person who owned it prior to that and they were able to recover the missing armour. Sometimes the old owner thinks they tossed it years ago, but it is lying forgotten in the grass somewhere. Might be worth investigating, just in case. If you already made a deal for the carrier, the old owner knows you and where you are coming from and if you can trace back to the previous owner, you have a foot in the door with them as well because you can connect with the owner in between the two of you. Not a perfect system, but fits well into the old proverb of not leaving any stones unturned.
