AWA in NSW built the sets in 1943 . The Aust. version used a different tube lineup utilizing locally made tubes and the designers dropped one IF amp stage , but the set had an extra audio amp stage .
A good number of them have survived , I had 5 at one time . The unique AWA style switch knobs were also seen on the AWA No. 11 sets . The set had cotton covered wiring and the poor quality paper type caps were everywhere . It was a nightmare to repair with multi layered boards underneath each other, making access to components almost impossible .
