On a
Ford CMP truck for sale in France, I noted a paper tag on the left-hand engine head. I have now deciphered the tag on the engine, it reads
"This engine is type C49WC6097 and if it is replaced by an engine of another type the numeral preceding the mark of the vehicle must be changed accordingly before the vehicle returns to service"
Not having heard of having to change "the numeral preceding the mark of vehicle" on trucks, I thought of Carriers. It then dawned on me this must have been an engine once fitted to a Windsor Carrier, because of the C49WC type.
Some engines do travel!
