I beleive initially the rims were made by GM but at one point were farmed out to Kelsey.

This topic was dealt with in the earlier years of MLU with postings of pictures of the large punch press.....something like 1200 tons...... blank pre cut discs were punch in one go...... the monstrous flywheel of the press was half under the floor.

I tried doing a few searches but must not have used the proper key words.

Wonder who else remembers these postings...?
