Large numbers of 6X4 GMC trucks were brought to NZ during WWII and many still survive. In fact there is a rusting hulk of one sitting in a paddock not far away from us here. It will be great if that is what we need, as I think the owner would let us have it. Problem is I don't know what a Timken front axle looks like.
They are "beam" axles in the sense of being 2WD (ie no diff) and are similar to the L/L Chev 2WD front axle, but heavier, thicker and 100mm longer. The wheel track is 100mm wider and the front mudguards of the LRDG trucks were widened to suit).
