Default Wonder if.....

Hi Jacek

Two possibilities on the blackened wood spacer.......

You truck did see some action.... are there any discoloration of the metal it was touching..?

....or some years of slow decay of the wood may looked like it burned but only a slow process with the tannic acid of the wood.

On your truck, like mine.... a lot of the machined screws that hold the engine cover and rifle holders were actually threaded into the 3/16 ( 6mm) floor plates.

Working on these old trucks is a constant learning journey.
