White M3A1 Scout Car exhaust bracket?

			Hi all,

I’m in the process of building the exhaust system for my White Scout Car.

I have a muffler that I can reuse and some of the old exhaust that I will use as patterns for the new pipe.

I was starting to make some of the muffler mounting brackets and I came across this bracket which was included in amongst all the parts that came with the project vehicle.

The bracket is of reasonably thick steel (about 4mm) and has an asbestos loop/strap bolted to one end which I’m assuming was wrapped around some part of the exhaust. On the side of the asbestos strap is a folded piece of light steel (about 2mm) which that has been cut off another donor chassis/body. This looks to have had a spot weld on it but the bracket has been bent in the process of it being removed.

I initially thought that this was part of the original exhaust and muffler set up but I've since been informed that it is not from a White Scout car.

Can anyone give me any clues as to its origins? I'm assuming it is military; both brackets show signs of green paint, but I realise that means nothing in itself.

Many thanks.
