Depends on what era desert war ? Late or early ??? Mine is painted late desert into Tunisia.

I went with desert sand with a blue/black disruptive... However earlier (pre 42) they had all manner of schemes including desert ZI pink, and Caunter pattern

One thing of note is the current BS631 desert sand is actually much darker than the Ww2 variant

The nearest colour match I have found to the correct ww2 sand is RAL1002 (0ff the top of my head)

Google Mike Starmer he is the authority on colours and markings, and has numerous books on the subject.

There are images of my carrier on here to give an idea of the current desert sand (which is actually a hybrid of the ww2 desert sand and ZI PINK.


Paint mix wise you want a 222 fast air drying paint 10% Matt. Do not go more than this for ww2 stuff.
