This is a super longshot. Every so often on Facebook or one of the click-bait "news" feeds that seem to overpopulate the interweb these days, I have seen photoessays of wrecked tanks.

Cold War imagery abounds, but every so often will be a submerged or beachfront scene of wrecked vehicles. Several parts of East Africa for instance like Djibouti received/retained former French AFVs, which if I recall included M5 light tanks. I don't know if an M3 turret ring is the same as an M5 turret ring, but some enterrprising (or foolhardy) soul could theoretically get what he needed from that part of the world.
