Dottir is a bit Icelandic, but your father had a Scandinavian sure name. Sounds a bit Norwegian that name, but "dottir" sounds Icelandic...

I know my Dad didn't serve overseas, but would have, and I like to think of him as a Vet. Dottir is definately Icelandic. So ideally I should be surnamed Johannesdottir.
