If you have a regular Ford gearbox, it is easily adaptable (and indistinguishable) to the carrier. You do require the top cover from a carrier, as well as the output cover (some of these used a seal and I think some didn't) and drive gear. You may have to drill and tap two holes in the back of the truck transmission for the carrier type output cover, but otherwise it is good to go.
I just did one with sealed bearings front and rear to help control oil leakage. he cost for the sealed bearings is the same as unsealed, so time will tell if I made the right choice.
