Hi David,

Well I'll be! Always assumed they were all steel, the front and rear parts. A magnet just proved otherwise to me. Accounts for why the front part rots away a lot faster than the rear part due to electrolysis of dissimilar metals.

I always assumed they were turned up on a lathe too but being white metal most likely were die cast then threaded.

Always something new to learn about the CMP trucks!
