Many thanks for the reply. Since posting I have picked up 1 wooden 20mm polsten magazine chest which held 2 off Mk 1 magazines. Size wise it's L= 430mm, W=300, H = 280 (canvas handles and wooden mounts not included). It would appear that the truck had a 10 cwt trailer towed behind with two of these chests being in the trailer, along with lots of other equipment. The sizes quoted originally, as I have now discovered, were for packs of rounds of ammo, held in the upper lockers of the truck, probably originally waxed cardboard boxes.
So, if you know of another wooden polsten 20mm magazine chest, I would be very interested.
