I have another thread running on the resto of a 1939 Ford utility Australian Army pattern. I also have 1940 and 1941 models of the same ute. All will be in need of reconstructed cabs and rear bodies. I am having new panels pressed to facilitate manufacturing of the side body panels, tailgate and door skins. The difficult part is the three ribs pressed into the top of the panels. This will be done on a 2440 x 1200 1mm sheet of cold rolled panel steel. Further folding and dressing the panels will be done by hand to complete them.
I know there are still a few unrestored examples of this vehicle about. If anyone wants to take advantage of the opportunity to get new panels made let me know. Price is still to be determined and will depend on how many I can get pressed.
The attached image is a small sample that has been pressed up and is very accurate.
I should have mentioned, the lower longer piece is an original section so you can see how accurate the replica is.
