My understanding is that those were called battle drills, and the British loved them. I believe the manual you want is called "the carrier platoon in the infantry battalion" and it has the drills telling you exactly where the driver places his hand, which leg goes over where, in order to mount or dismount the carrier.
It is one of those small training pamphlets maybe 40 pages thick. I have one on the bookshelf beside me, but it is small enough that it does not readily jump out.
