736 Communication Squadron
The C42 Set I own came from this Squadron, which I think is/was based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. All the major components have a white '736' stencilled on them somewhere. In addition to the Squadron number being marked on the parts, there is also a white outlined triangle painted freehand near each number location. This is a mystery to me in so far as these triangles clearly relate to 736 Communication Squadron in some way, but the how and why escapes me.
Would the triangular outline represent 'Delta'? Possibly a Troop within the Squadron?
Is it possible these identifications were applied to the C42 when it was embedded in another unit, along with the 736 Sqn personnel?
Would these identifiers have been added to the equipment if 736 Sqn was involved in some large exercise/operation with other Communication Squadrons as a means of inventory control, and when it was over, the Squadron never bothered removing them?
Any ideas gratefully received.
