On a more serious note.
I too became totally inundated with unwanted ads and pop-ups which reached a critical stage two days ago. Hundreds per hour.

Based on advice from another forum, I downloaded Ad-Aware and it really works. It searched about 150,000 objects and found about 1100 bad guys. Have had no problems since then.

I also hired the IT manager from my Accounting firm who moonlights on weekends, to come to the house today and completely "tune" all the PCs we have here at the house. Based on talking to some of her previous clients, she is a real wizard and not only installs what you need to eleminate spam and ads but also goes through the whole operating system and gets rid of un-needed stuff, generally cleans up and organizes the hard drive and so on. All said their PCs were very much faster after the tune up. Her husband installs business networks and he will arrive this afternoon to set up all of my stuff on wireless networking, set up file sharing and printer sharing and all that good stuff. If this all turns out well, I will have for the first time ever a properly set up system after some 13, 14 years of trying to do it myself.

Do try the Ad-Aware, Geoff, it works.
Bill
