Early M38A1 CDN Info
Hello....Yesterday I visited the military museum at CFB Borden. They had just received an M38A1 CDN1 (tilting rad-front clip, 8 screw battery box hold-down lid etc) as a gift from a "L Col. B. Savage". The label on the stand beside the jeep described the jeep as "1950 Era, 1/4 Ton Standard Military Pattern, Dodge Jeep 4x4".
From what I have learnt after purchasing my 67' M38A1 is that the CDN 1 was produced by Willy's Overland in the early 50's. The CDN 2 was built from 1967 to 1968 (please correct me if I am wrong) by Kaiser in Winsor, Ontario and the CDN 3 was produced in Toledo, Ohio by AMC as Kaiser went bankrupt in the late 60's and sold the jeep brand to AMC....again, please correct me if I am wrong. I would like to send an email to my contact at CFB Borden to have them correct the label beside their newly acquired M38A1....what would be the correct description on the label for this CDN jeep?
Regards and thanks in advance,
lesk
