Hi Mike,
That is the Autovac system, it was also used on the Morris Commercial C4 with the 4 cylinder engine. About 40 years ago when I was helping a friend restore a C4, I substituted an electric SU low pressure pump and that worked fine, (the Autovac was not in a usable condition).
