Not the front, but more to the back. Just forward of the front spring mounts for the rear axle the frame tends to crack on Cdn2 and earlier Jeeps. There is a little hole drilled through the side of the frame for a spring type retainer clip holding a brake line in place....the crack usually goes through there, but may originate at the spring hanger itself.
The Cdn3 boxed the frame in that area, and for the most part that cured the problem.
Another area of concern is the steering bell-crank mount. They would put stress on the cross member. Pretty much all of them had been welded, albeit poorly.
