Hi all,
I recently read a post here on MLU about modern OEP-220 transmission oil destroying Bronze bushes in our vintage military gearboxes and diffs..
To that end I made time today to drop all the OEP -220 oil that I put into my Gearbox, front and rear differentials & winch last summer (7 months ago) and was alarmed by the amount of bronze “gold leaf” coloured slick effect that came out of my gearbox and winch

The oil from the diffs seemed ok.
I don’t know if I’ve now destroyed the bushes within the gearbox and winch ... as I don’t know how long the OEP 220 takes to dissolve bronze ... there was certainly a lot of bronze at the bottom of my oil bucket
Please check your pride and joys and if necessary change your oil to an appropriate classic oil (I need to research a good oil)
Please see pictures attached .....I hope I haven’t wrecked my bronze bushes!
Kind regards,
Mark Towers
