Fair Radio has some MS stuff but not as cheap as Haney Electronics. Another good source are the MVPA meets.
39" sounds like 1 metre to this gnome.

A vast number of WS38 Mk.II aerial sets (1 each of bottom, middle & top plus the "spring steel rod" battle aerial) were sold by surplus dealers in the 1950s as DIY fishing rods, with a pack of guide eyes for the line, a simple reel, some line and a wooden handle.

Original push-fit 'F' rods are 48 inches long.
Later push fit and screw to lock rods are 49.5 inches long.
