This slat grill Willys MB with census number CM 4218906 could be one of those 24 shipped directly from Bordon to the NEI.
These photos shows one of the jeeps of the Commander of the Dutch Armed Forces (BNS) in Kuala Lumpur in Malacca (now Malaysia). Dutch troops, namely the OVW battalions of the KL, were en route to the Netherlands East Indies in early 1946, but were not allowed to continue by the British. They had to temporarily disembark in Malacca, only to be allowed later to continue to bring peace and order to the NEI. The small unit with liaison officers from the BNS Staff was clearly involved.
