The parallel is also in the militaria field when a standard pocket knife goes way up in asking value because it is a paratrooper rigging knife, or a pair of binoculars becomes a sniper's binocular.
The trick on many of these things is to be somewhat patient. For instance, when it comes to optics for tanks and artillery, there are way more of the optics surviving than there are the applicable guns. Some patience pays off.
