Default Hugh Thompson's Ambulance

The Ambulance has left the building... and arrived at its new on loan home at the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum where it is on display with the Catalina. Lake Boga was the former RAAF Base built in 1942 for servicing and repairing flying boats and amphibians, primarily Catalinas operated by the RAAF. The base probably had a similar RAAF Ambulance so this is a good, secure place for it to be seen by the many visitors who pass through each year. The vehicle remains the property of the Thompson family. I filmed a short piece of it coming out of its shed on the Bellarine Peninsula when I went there to take reference images for the family. The other pic came from Lake Boga where it is nestled under the wing of the Catalina. It is a great museum and well worth a visit, especially now with the ambulance there. It will be kept in running condition.
