Default Wartime Oldsmobiles in Australia

VMVC member Bert B. had one of these 1941 Oldsmobiles, my memory is hazy , I think it was LHD. Bert drove it to a few events , early 1980s. I recall Bert's Olds staff car attended our club trip to Bandiana army base around 1982. I'll never forget this: the WW1 Light horse re-enactment group had their horses on the Bandiana parade ground. A horse bolted, all of us watched as it galloped the length of the parade ground with the rider , the horse eventually ran into a cyclone wire fence at full speed, the rider described a high arc as he flew over the fence . People rushed to his aid.

Another incident occurred that day, a kid attending the event opened a jerry can filled with petrol, the can was pressurised in the ambient heat and petrol spurted out over his face.

I'm not making this up. During the event one of our vehicles was parked on the road verge and it was swiped by a speeding car, the Dodge was badly damaged.

Years ago I was at the Bendigo swap meet and somebody had a nice original 'barn find' 1939 Oldsmobile ute on a trailer, it was $1500 - complete with the GMH built ute body.
