Hi Bill,

I can only assume that the C&J T-84 gears, with a different tooth count, were replacement gears for the gearboxes that were fitted in the Australian assembled 1938-40 Willys cars.

Willys cars sold reasonably well. The Australian Willys distributors adverts appeared in newspapers of the time. Used to see a few 1938/39 sedans at car shows and swap meets, but I haven't seen one for many years. The utes are particularly rare.

By mid 1942, the Australian Willys dealerships are running newspaper adverts , describing Willys Jeeps as being the best thing since sliced bread. Melbourne's Stokoe Motors lasted into at least the 1980s, I used to catch the train to Nth. Melbourne station and walk to their premises , opposite the footy ground . Stokoe Motors had purchased many wartime MB Jeeps and sold the Jeeps on.
