Super stuff guys - I just got undistracted from other things (such as a 6x6x10-foot cedar timber sitting in the back of my car that I managed to crack the windshield with while I was sliding it forward) to get caught up with this thread.
It is interesting to see the front plates are welded on, not part of the casting - this is exactly how I will have to repair mine - torched off at the backside of the front plate as they were.
