Hi Jim;

Some notes:

Judging by your Uncle's date of death and what the Regina's were up to round that date, I think your Uncle was killed during the final phase of the Regina's assault and final taking of the Abbaye d'Ardenne, on 08 July 1944.

They had to cross a mile of open ground (Authie - Abbaye d'Ardenne) in broad daylight, before actually reaching the Abbaye grounds themselves. Your Uncle was probably either in "C" or "D" Company of the Regina's.

Their taking of the Abbaye was all part of Operation 'CHARNWOOD' - the attack on Caen - has Geoff pointed out earlier.

The Fax number that Carman gave is probably the more up to date one - Thanks 'Little Miss....'
