Vic:
Brit D Mk V Fd Tels were powered by 2 x 1.5 "X" cells= 3 Volts.
The switchboard to which they were commonly hooked up, were powered by 3 x "X" cells= 4.5 Volts, the extra voltage encompassed the night alarm circuit, panel lights, and ringer apparatus.
