IF you had the correct radiator and IF your motor was mounted in the rigt place, and IF you had the right motor, and IF it was working hard, it would overheat. The fan eextention puts the fan in the correct location with the shrouds to best cool your motor. The carrier motor is fully enclosed, the air flow is through the radiator , and out through the square holes in the rear of the hull. It takes a bit to move the air through there and although the original fans sometimes break, they are probably the most efficient at doing it, without bastardizing your carrier. So yes get youyrself a fan extention.
