I find it a real drag to hear that some guy suddenly now claims that that coffee cup the kid found was his and he's trying to claim the prize, and the other kid who helped the little girl roll up the win (or her folks) is also fighting to claim the prize.

My understanding is the guy turfed the cup in the garbage ... so the kid who "found it" and reaped the reward is the true "winner" ... the kid who helped her just helped her.

As far as I'm concerned, the kid who found it is the winner and the "prize" should be in trust if they can claim a cash prize rather than the vehicle (she's too young to drive) ... it will be interesting to see how Tim Horton's handles this ... and the goonie lawyers are in there like flint going after the fees, of course. I also don't see this as the parents prize, therefore IN TRUST for that kids best inetersts.

There was a poll in Canoe about this ... "who should get the prize" ... last I saw it was a huge landslide in favor of the kis who found the cup.

My cousin won 5.5 million once on 649 ... back in about 1989. The prize was shared with her husband and kids ... one kid being underage at the time of claiming the prize. Her portion went into trust until she came of age ... which really was only a couple of years for her to wait for her $617,000.oo part

I hope this thingw ith this kid gets settled real fast in her favor without lawyers reaping lots of the prize in fees.

Also ... if a cash prize possible, I'd see the kid who helped got a bit of a kickback for that too.
