Stuff for your next beer session
Probably the easiest way to describe a C30 or F30 is to think of it as a stretched 15CWT, so in the case of the Ford it has the light steering and steering ends, small front brake drums, single speed transfer case, high speed diffs (6 39) and 16" wheels.
I've seen some exceptions to this - for instance there are F60L models in Australia, the Stores version which used light steering but had a 2 speed transfer case with low ratio diffs (7 43) and 20" wheels; also our FGTs which were a 3-ton rating used the light steering, but with 2 speed transfer case and low ratio diffs on 20" wheels.
Here, the 30 CWT medium wheelbase chassis was mainly used for ambulances.
