Comments from he who tried to unhook at 1 am......
I never knew a partly stripped C60 plus one little mean and lean CMP trailer could be that heavy.
As Rob pointed out we check the tires regularly and kept our speed to just over legal......
I had just installed a "load equalizer" system on the trailer.... man it made quite the difference. When I got home I had to unhook so I could go to work with the truckon Monday.
So I dug up the bar to release the two steel bars on the hitch.... nearly went in orbit whenit finally released.... was wiser on the second bar. Notice the trailer hitch dropped about 5 inches.... and this is on the rear end of a F250 with helper springs.
Tried as I could the hitch wind down leg would not take the weigiht off the ball..... had to fire up the old tractor form the barn and bring the 2 1/2 ton floor jack in the bucket....... finally got it released.... by then it is 2 am..... thank God I live in a rural area and the neighbours near by know I nuts.....
Like Ron said we unloaded in day light the next evening... a lot safer... and easier for the skitters to find you .
Managed to bend the stop bar at the head of the trailer when winching the C60 too far forward..... now replaced with 1/4 wall thickness trailer receiver stock welded solid in place.....
All in all another safe recovery. Thanks Rob for the support....my wife wants to know how many more trucks you intend to bring to my place.....
Bob
