Well here is that type 12 cab blitz off ebayAu...
It was not quite as it appeared. Not a C15A but most likely a C60 which has the chassie shortened and springs remounted towards the front.
It was used by a mill as their maitenance truck and the welder used to hard face the bucket/teeth on their plat equipment. The welder goes over 250 amps 32v.
For it's age and work life the truck was/is in very good condition. Cab is in good condition and probly best type 12 i have seen in the bush prior to resto.
Negatives for it are:-
*no doors or engine cover (had a cover for a 13 cab C30 with winch in the cab)
*made up "A pillar" windscrean
*has a 216 out of a maple leaf and the bonnet has been moded to take the non original radiator
Posatives for it are:-
*very good headlights
*cab, guards, roof etc are very straight and hardly any rust
* has a good brush guard and bumper. ( the bumper is a early 1 pre No. 084- -02336 which has a rounded edge and flat flange apposed to the square edge and tapered flange of most blitzs)
*most of the drive train looks good.
Oddities:-
*Well besides the bumper wjich is the only one of its type i have noticed was the rear guards. They were made up from a pair of type 13 rear half front guards welded back to back.(see photo) Look very good and should be able to be seperated with out too much trouble to furnish 2 pairs of type 13 guards. Well rear half that is.
The recovery took about 5 hours round trip with lunch put on by the owner in a lovely bush setting. We stipped the truck of much of its excess weight so not to over tax the trailer and the Patrol towing it and loaded the other bits into the other tandum behind the Troopy.
So anyway the following photos of the day at play... enjoy!
Phil...
