Gun mount
Rob. Where does the commander go in a carrier(...duh..) Do you mean the one on the "glacis"? plate, above where the bren would normally be seen, or do you mean the one to the left,(and behind) of the driver.(this one is std.) Or is there one I have not yet found? The carrier in the photo I think is a Mark I*. A MkI "standard U.C. would have ( I may be corrected about all this) one gun mount in the front , one on the hull division plate as seen in the photo, one on each side of the rear compartments, and one on the rear plate.
With regards the "Numbers" and "Marks" (This could also be wrong, but by airing this we could both learn something)
The number relates to the motors, and the mark relates to hull design. A MkI has no side steps, A MkII (and MkIII) does.
The Carriers Designated with a Mark+Star eg. MkI*,MkII*,MkIII* are Canadian built.
Any Carrier designated No.3, is also Canadian Eg. Carrier Universal No3, MkII* is a Canadian U.C. with side steps.
Hope this helps, and if its wrong please say so, and is the commander the guy in the back? Now to run and put my tin hat on, ...Bye.
