Dirt floors
Hi Eric:
We left the floor in our shed dirt for a number of years and discovered that the vehicles were rusting from the bottom up... moisture in the soil condensed on the lower parts of the vehicles and encouraged rust. We splurged and put in a six inch 6000 psi slab (it needed to be able to handle heavy tracked vehs (Rams/Sexton) and cost $10K for 110'X42'.
If you can't afford concrete, then lay down stone dust, roll it and pack it good and hard, lay down a vapour barrier of really thick plastic and then another layer of stone dust.
Welcome to the "never enough room in the shed" club. Our 4620 sq ft is stuffed to the gills!
Cheers! Mike
