Greetings Dave!
Looks like a bit of a mishap there, thankfully no one was hurt. This does bring up an interesting subject though, and that is one of imported crap.
Please excuse me for hi-jacking your post...
My father taught me a long time ago that you get what you pay for and to always buy the best you can afford subject to the usage it gets. He was a long time toolmaker and knew quality as his job depended on it.
Unfortunately these days, trying to even find decent quality tools and equipment is hard, especially with the likes of the big box stores like Wal-Mart etc who specialize in selling offshore junk at cheap prices.
Of course I can't blame anyone, lest myself for taking the shortcut and buying a "bargain". With the high cost of living and low wages we suffer from here in Canada, not to mention being raped by the government and taxed on everything, how do we combat this situation?
I for one, lost a very good job at an international company because they found it cheaper to make our product in India. My good friend suffered the same fate at the same company while his wife lost her job to a Chinese company. It is happening all over my friends.
I would like to know, just when are our governments going to wake up and realize that sending all the jobs offshore is a ticking time bomb? Handing this much economic power over to the likes of communist governments like China or to third world dictatorships like Pakistan and India is simply insane! One day the Chinese will take over and the USA need never fire a shot, nor they as each day passes and they get their hooks more intertwined in the American economy.
The day will come where there aren't any jobs here in the free world and hence no money. North America will become a third world country, crime ridden and over-run by foreigners with deep pockets. Left long enough, there won't be anyone to buy these foreign made products either from the likes of China and maybe, just maybe they'll come looking to take what they want.
Better brush up now on your Mandarin.
Take no offense Dave, as I do understand your purchase. I too have foreign made junk and I cringe whenever I need to buy something and its got a Made in China label.
Just a little food for thought here...
Buy Canadian! (or American)!
