Same here, Mike... I haven't had a family doctor here since mine retired due to work-induced ill-health about nine years ago. Luckily, I've used the same walk-in clinic since and they're very good, but while they have my complete history on-file, it's not the same. All the same, they've had occasion to plug me into their machines instantaneously then call an ambulance to ensure I didn't drop on the spot. Shouldn't be this way, though.
BTW, you Aussies, that was a long while back, no worries now, mates. I'm now 54 years young and good-to-go!
Let's understand one thing here on MLU, though, for the record... I'm not opposed to immigration. Of the good friends I have at work, two are East Indian and one is black. In addition, I share outside smoking-space with a West Indian lady who numbers amongst the warmest-hearted women I've ever met. She's married, so don't get carried away, but I DO treasure her friendship.
Having said all this, I really do think that Trudeau's concept of centralised Ottawa-based power backfired badly. We really are a huge country of 11 separate mini-nations, with subunits within, and that DOES need to be recognized and addressed. I think Harper knows this but it's going to be a tough haul for him. But it's a reality which WILL ultimately have to be attended-to. I don't envy him his task, but I don't think anyone else can do it and maintain the integrity of the nation.
