Default Dodge

The AIF seemed to have prefered Fords and Chevs as staff cars.

I recall somewhere , maybe it was Mike Cecil who pointed out that the AIF only took away Fords and Chevs as a deliberate policy in order to reduce the logistics problem with spare parts . That light stone Richards bodied 1940 Dodge was highly unlikely to have seen any overseas service with the AIF . Some 1940 cars did escape military service , doctors and other essential users could apply to buy a new car . Hire car companies were another case where exemptions applied .

I think blameless Blamey had his own car in the M.E., it was found derelect somwhere in the 1980's .

As far as Gen. Macarthur goes , he may have seen it while passing through Adelaide sometime . The US army here in OZ were issued a whole menagerie of cars , some odd ball things were comandeered from civilian owners .
